I always look for used professional saxophones that have been played hard but not dropped, and this 54 alto is exactly that. There is wear on the keys from playing, but no solder work or major dents, just minor scratches from use. Saxophones that are played a lot are usually killer players and this one is just that, killer. A lot of these References are a little too resistant for my liking, but not this one.
 
Dark, free-blowing, rich tone, unmolested; everything one would want in a Reference 54.
