Our Lead Technician/Owner, Chris Moller, has been repairing professionally for almost 30 years and has owned Agave Music since 2010. He specializes in hand made flute repair. He has been certified to install Straubinger Pads since 2015 and certified to install Muramatsu’s Lotus System Pads since 2023.

A play condition refers to a specific repair needed to get an instrument in playing condition or addressing cosmetic issues. We are happy to address any problem a player is having with their flute and can often make these repairs while-you-wait, later in the same day, or overnight.

We recommend every flute receive a C.O.A. once a year for optimal use.
At Agave Music a Clean, Oil and Adjust includes:

All the keys, levers and head cork are removed

The body and head joint are thoroughly cleaned to remove dust, oil and some tarnish
-
The keys and levers are hand cleaned to remove dust, oil and some tarnish. Each pad is carefully cleaned to create a better seal and extend the life of the pads.

Up to 3 pads are leveled
-
The head cork is replaced
-
Key silencers are replaced as needed
-
The flute is reassembled and extensively play tested by Chris Moller

Mechanical Overhaul

We completely recondition (rebuild/revamp) your flute to play like it's brand new

All keys and levers are removed

All pads, key silencers and corks are removed

The head joint, body, keys and levers are thoroughly cleaned and polished

The tone holes are checked and dressed as needed

Minor dents are removed per the players request

The head joint and foot joint are refit as needed

All the pads are replaced and leveled

Each steel and hinge tube are straightened as needed

A Note on Repairs
Repairs are done on-site by trained technicians, Josh Troyani and Chris Moller. Both are repair school graduates with extensive apprenticeships and extended training. You can expect the highest quality repair work available at fair prices. There is no substitute for talent, tooling, schooling, passion for quality, extensive apprenticeships, continued training, and nearly 30 years of experience.
